"I received communications from Rigid. It appears they were able to make the repairs quicker than expected. The repaired pump skid should arrive onsite Sunday at 9:00 am; they'll spend the day getting everything hooked back up and expect to begin dredging beginning MON 10/04/21 at 6:00 am. Everyone is excited to get back at it!" -Dan Garza

Sunday morning, September 26, 2021, Rigid made the decision to halt dredging operations due to the continued mechanical issues with the pump bearing. They decided to dismantle the pump skid from the dredge and haul it out for repairs. At that time, their estimate for repairs would be 10-14 days, which would mean starting up the middle to end of next week (WED 10/06 to SUN 10/10). I haven’t heard any updates from Rigid since last Sunday.
We have communicated our concerns with Rigid regarding current progress and expect to receive a ‘recovery schedule’ that explains how they expect to complete the project by the contractual end date of January 18, 2022.
For this weekly dredging update, I’ve calculated the following metrics:
- LF (Linear Feet) = 4,620 (47.6% of 9,700)
- CY (Cubic Yards) = 109,136 (30.1% of 362,163)
I wish I had better news for you, but my sense is that progress will accelerate when they’re not hamstrung by these mechanical issues. Hopefully this repair will put us in a position to make great progress!

Wed 29Sep21. Photos taken this evening shows the dredge and discharge pipe sitting midway between ICW and Gulf. It does not appear to be running. More will be known about conditions when weekly Dredging Report (1 Oct21) is received in a couple of days from HDR Engineering.
Seen in the distance, a towering cumulus cloud generates rain over Gulf of Mexico.
