The flood waters of Hurricane Harvey have pushed through the mouth of the San Bernard and extend beyond the regular surf line in the Gulf of Mexico. The dark-blue colored water pushes the silt-laden water flowing from the Brazos River away from land. The flood waters make a sharp right turn to flow south along the beach. The BIG question is whether the flood waters are simply flowing over the sand clogged mouth or have actually blasted it open. Only when the flood waters have receded will the actual condition be known. Hopefully, Bert Smith, the venturesome pilot, who is responsible for taking photos of the mouth will have one that reveals the true condition.
