President Mike Goodson welcomes everyone to the FOR annual meeting while a sailfish seemingly leaps over his head.
FOR’s annual meeting and election of Directors took place on Sat Sep 17 at Dido’s Restaurant. Approximately 50 friends attended including board members, invited guests and speakers Brazoria County Pct. 4 Commissioner David Linder, Dannenbaum Engineering Project Mgr. Christopher Sallese and Brazoria County Sheriff’s Narcotics Task Force officer Sgt. James Brawner.

The meeting elected returning members to the Board of Directors Bob Bailey and Fred Kanter and elected new directors George Harris and Brett McManus.

Commissioner David Linder “In Austin, at every meeting with officials, they knew about Friends of the River. We (county) are not going to give up (on getting the mouth open). Once it's open we are going to keep it open…Phase 3 of road improvements include county roads 360, 809, 332, 860, 359, 321, and 803.”

Christopher Sallese, Dannenbaum Engineering
"In response for the RESTORE (Bucket 1) funds of $56 million there have been 217 project applications received totaling $1.4 billion...I was told by the Corps of Engineers that a lot of good comments have been received from Friends of the River (concerning dredging the mouth open)."

Sgt. James Brawner, Brazoria County Sheriff’s Narcotics Task Force "The crime rate in this area is at a 35 year low but if you see something that doesn’t look right, call the Sheriff’s office (979-864-2392). The Narcotics Division will investigate anything.”
