Posted on Sep 15th, 2014
![]() A quick hit of praise and commentary on "San Bernard friends live up to name" article in Monday, Sep 15 "Acclaim A Shame" column written by members of THE FACTS Editorial Board
“The Friends of the River San Bernard last weekend corralled together a bunch of volunteers for a good old river cleanup.
Volunteers fanned out in boats and crews to clean the river, and many staffed the three trash collection stations.
The river residents are truly caretakers of the San Bernard, and their dedication keeps the area beautiful and clean for the river’s users.
The volunteers who showed up also got a free T-shirt and were treated to a hot dog social, so it was a good time for all as well as serving an important purpose.”

"Residents, visitors and wildlife are seeing a cleaner San Bernard River as a result of efforts from Friends of the River San Bernard.
Volunteers from the nonprofit organization were able to collect enough trash to fill a commercial-sized dumpster at their annual river cleanup event Sept. 13, according to the Friends of the River San Bernard website.
Volunteers manning 10 boats, two personal watercraft and three collection stations helped clean the river of any trash they could find, and were rewarded with free t-shirts and a hot dog social afterwards, the website states.
The yellow Clean Team T-shirts were donated by Phillips 66."
