The Houston-Galveston Area Council will host three Open House/Town Hall meetings to present the preliminary San Bernard River Watershed Protection Plan. Funded by an American Recovery and Reinvestment Act grant through the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality, the Watershed Protection Plan includes recommendations to protect the water quality and to address elevated bacteria concerns in some areas of the San Bernard River.
The public meetings will give residents and other users of the river the opportunity to provide feedback on the watershed protection plan and learn how the plan will affect them, how to prepare for changes and growth in the region, and how to assist their local governments in implementing activities that will help protect water quality in their areas.
