Trash Pickup at Mouth
on “International Coastal Cleanup Day"

Mouth of the San Bernard
The mouth of the San Bernard, yes, the one that’s still closed to boat traffic to the Gulf and still shallow in areas, is nevertheless, a popular anchorage spot where boaters spend time enjoying the beach. Unfortunately, this has resulted in the area becoming littered with trash that was not carried out and disposed of properly when boaters leave.
On Sat Sep 17, 8:00 am - Noon, FOR Environmental Committee volunteers are joining together on “International Coastal Cleanup Day” to pickup litter along the mouth. The plan is to transport the collected trash by boat to nearby River End’s boat ramp where the county will pick up the following week. If you have a 4-wheel drive vehicle, you can drive from Sargent and clean the area bordering the mouth on the west bank.
Volunteers receive a FOR Clean Team “Trash Mash” t-shirt or wear the Clean Team t-shirt you earned while participating in past cleanups. They’re neon green, you'll be easily recognizable. Volunteers and boats are needed to help clean litter, trash and “free range” plastic from the mouth. Watch for details!
