The public is invited to meet friends and neighbors at the Friends of the River San Bernard Annual Meeting and Election of Directors.. Please note the date is Sat Sep 14th changed from Sat Sep 21.
"Escape to the Tropics" fundraiser tickets will be on sale at the meeting! Food can be purchased from the restaurant. Meeting speakers to be announced.
Friends of the River San Bernard Board of Directors is comprised of fifteen persons who each serve a three-year term. Each year, five positions (1/3 of the board) are open for election by the public. A person may run for election for two consecutive terms and then must vacate the board for one year before running again for election. This year, three Directors are running for re-election to a second term and two positions are open for election of new Board members.

For over 25 years, David and his family have enjoyed the San Bernard recreationally. They have enjoyed living full time on the river after buying their home in 2014.
David’s career experience is in the domestic and international offshore engineering and construction industry, He was responsible for both operations and marketing dimensions with executive management and P&L accountability for both.
His goal is to see the completion of the Mouth opening and the follow-through on the maintenance dredging program. He also expects FOR to grow as an organization with broader community engagement providing the resources to support continuing and future environmental initiatives to benefit the San Bernard River and its communities. His experience and background in business operations, management, marketing and organizational skills will serve him well to serve FOR. He believes there are many ideas to continue to improve the quality of the river and it's community through stewardship of environmental programs.

![]() John Swanson
John is a former Mechanical Engineer who grew up in Sweeny spending most of his free time fishing and skiing on the San Bernard River. He has owned property on the river since 1991 and raised two children there as weekenders. John and his wife Dana are now retired and live on the river full time. They enjoy watching their three grandsons fish and participate in water sports.
Currently, John is a Director with the Texas Bay Credit Union since 1983.
John has helped with the FOR Logo Committee, the FOR Easter Egg Hunt, the annual FOR fundraiser and has attended several Environmental Committee programs. He is willing to get more involved with FOR as a Director. And, more importantly, he has offered these words, “I am handy with tools.”
John’s goal is to continue to promote and protect the natural beauty and value of the San Bernard River watershed. He feels the current board is doing an excellent job and is well connected.
