Friends of the River San Bernard is proud to announce Tim Logan as the new Environmental Committee Chairman replacing Barbara Fratila, chairman from 2011 to present. Tim is a retired Environmental Analytical Chemist.
Tim commented, “Upon moving to Brazoria County to begin a job with Dow Chemical in the early eighties, I was immediately drawn to the San Bernard River. First fishing, then learning to slalom ski with my lifetime love Jane, the San Bernard offered the ideal setting. As my career developed with Dow in the Environmental Analytical field, we decided to live full time on the river’s banks, and raise our children in it’s brackish waters. Since moving to the San Bernard in 1998, we have relished in its beauty and natural resources. Our family has grown together in the fertile aquatic recreational opportunities that abound in this watershed. So as my career with Dow has wrapped up and the kids are off to college, it’s time to “give back” as the old cliché goes, and become more involved with FOR as chairman of the Environmental Committee.”
Tim succeeds Barbara Fratila who is moving to Lake Jackson after serving as Environmental Committee Chairman since 2011. Barbara was the participating attorney instrumental in forming FOR’s first Supplemental Environment Project (SEP) in 2010 that covered 105 acres of the Edwin Dyer Moore Moore property located adjacent to the San Bernard river near Guy, Texas. It was during her tenue that H-GAC Watershed Protection Plan and TCEQ Recreational Use Attainability Analysis (RUAA) was enacted. Starting three years ago, the Environmental Committee has presented public education programs at the FOR Community Center. Barbara was also involved in the Adopt a Highway program and received the Primeau Memorial Award in 2014 for her generous support of the FOR organization.
FOR wishes Barbara good luck in her future endeavors and hopes to see her and spouse Nick kayaking on the river!
