Dedication Ceremony Set for Hanson Park Boat Ramp
Posted on Aug 4th, 2015

The sign says, “This property was funded in part by a financial assistance award from the U.S. Department of the Interior, Fish and Wildlife Service, Coastal Impact Assistance Program.”
The new boat ramp sits on the placid San Bernard River.
The newly completed boat ramp at Hanson Riverside County Park will receive official dedication on Thursday, August 13 at 9:00 a.m. The ramp will improve access to the upper portion of the San Bernard River where Hwy 35 crosses over it, just west of West Columbia

This project originally began in 1987 but construction  only started in spring of this year. Before the boat ramp was built, it took a 13 mile trip by river from Hanson Park to the FM 521 boat ramp, west of Brazoria to launch or retrieve a boat. When severe weather and high water threatened the river, traveling that far was a major problem.

Friends of the River San Bernard wii have two boats available for rides on the river during the event. FOR is also supplying some needed area lighting.

The public is invited to attend the event!
