August Meeting Reports
Posted on Aug 1st, 2015
These reports are a way to let the public know what FOR’s been up to. It’s also a way that someone can determine if there is any way they’d like to get involved in things. Please contact FOR if you are interested. Select Volunteer on the CONTACT US drop-down list.
Thirty-two friends attended the FOR hosted breakfast on Saturday. They heard Brazoria County Precinct 4 Commissioner David Linder announce plans for a future meeting with the US Army Corps of Engineers, Christopher Sallese, Project Manager, Dannenbaum Engineering and Commissioner Dude Payne, Precinct 1, to discuss ways to keep the river mouth open. Date to be announced.
He also reported the boat ramp at Hanson Riverside County Park is complete except for some needed area lighting. Friends of the River San Bernard volunteered to purchase the lighting.
A panel of four Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ) reps, an Eight Mile Trailer Park rep, their consultant Source Environmental Services, Inc., and the Eight Mile Trailer Park plant “C” operator and his consultant, answered questions about the Eight Mile Trailer Park waste treatment plant (25 wastewater permit violations since 2009) from a crowd of approximately 75 concerned river citizens. After a two hour meeting of "questions and answers and formal statements", the governmental agency said they would review the issue and get back to everyone on the mailing list comprised of those attending the meeting. Front page newspaper articles about the meeting appeared on Aug 6th in THE BRAZORIA COUNTY NEWS and Aug 9th in THE FACTS.
