Dinner companions for the evening, left, Jim Reis, BeBe Berger, Bert and Debbie Smith, Tommy and Peggy Davidson, traveled by water taxi to four different San Bernard River homes for sumptuous servings of food. Dessert hosts, Judy and Lynn Gillespie stand at the far right.
A most popular and fun-filled item from FOR annual River Regatta fundraiser auction is the river-style Progressive Dinner for six people that took place on Friday, July 6, 2012. Hosted this time by four couples who reside on the Brazoria side of the river.
Pete and Sue Smirch served an appetizer of assorted cheese and crackers, grapes, veggies, fresh baked bread and wine.
Traveling next to Fred and Nancy Kanter's home and assisted by Marie Breakiron, the soup and salad course was served consisting of chilled cucumber and shrimp soup, tabouli, rolled grape leaves, hummus, marinated fresh tomatoes, a falafel, and spicy crackers. Watermelon cocktails helped wash down the food.
Continuing on to Larry and Erma Vacek’s outdoor kitchen, the group enjoyed Erma’s preparation of the main entrée of tilapia with a garlic-infused Alfredo sauce over penne pasta and garlic bread. Don’t miss the upcoming October 21st FOR River Regatta and Lil’ Duck Race. It's your chance to bid on the two river-style progressive dinner auction items.
