Hunts For Heroes Schedule and Route

On Friday, Sep. 16, 2011, a group of 20 wounded soldiers from Brooke Army Center, plus their families/caretakers will be heading to a weekend retreat on the San Bernard River. The Friends of the River (F.O.R.) San Bernard is hosting this retreat for the wounded soldiers from “Hunts for Heroes”, an organization dedicated to providing quality hunting and outdoor related activities for men and women who have been wounded on the field of battle in service to our country in the war against terrorism.

Friday, Sept. 16
2:45 – 3:00 p.m.
Soldiers leave Bay City’s LeTulle Park escorted by the Brazoria County Cavalry & Matagorda County Cavalry
and head to West Columbia by Highway 35, citizen's line route and show support for wounded heroes
3:45 p.m.
Group arrives at West Columbia on Highway 35 and turns south on Highway 36 to Brazoria, citizens line route and show support for wounded heroes
4:15 p.m.
Group arrives Brazoria and travels down Highway 36 to FM 521 turnoff, citizens line route and show support for wounded heroes
4:30 p.m.
Group arrives at F.O.R. Community Center, 20450 CR 510-B, 1.5 miles south of FM 521 bridge on Brazoria side of San Bernard River, welcome and a short program follows
5:30 p.m.
Supper, catered by Ryan’s Steakhouse, Lake Jackson, served to wounded heroes and their host families

Saturday, Sept 17
6:30-9:00 p.m.
Soldiers and host families arrive for “Lil Bit of Texas” event and meal at Poole Ranch, FM 2918, six miles south of FM 2611 on the San Bernard River. For those who wish to attend but are not part of the host families, the cost is $15.
Sunday, Sept 18
9:00 a.m.
F.O.R. Community Center, soldiers and host families eat breakfast tacos prepared by the Brazoria Lions Club plus milk and juice donated by Oak Farms.
10:30 a.m.
“Hunts for Heroes” soldiers depart back to San Antonio
