Valroy Mauldin, FOR Director and citizen scientist monitor takes water samples each month midway between the FM 521 bridge and the FM 2611 bridge for the Texas Stream Team program. The test reports the pH level, temperature, dissolved oxygen, and other indicators of water quality in the San Bernard.

Monitors in the tidal water (bodies of water that are subject to the ebb and flow of ordinary tides below the salt water dam) of the river are now asked to report both conductivity (measured with an electronic meter in micro siemens per centimeter or milli siemens per centimeter)  and salinity measured with a hydrometer and temperature using a table and reported as parts per thousand (ppt)

July Field Observation Note: Flow moving very slowly upstream, rising tide!.
