FOR Receives Award from TxDot
Posted on Jul 22nd, 2013

FOR San Bernard received an Adopt-a-Highway award from TxDot for “outstanding effort and generous contribution of time and energy to maintain the beauty of Texas roadside through dedicated voluntary participation in the Adopt-a-Highway Litter Prevention Program” for the period June 1, 2011 to May 31, 2013.

The next trash pick-up is scheduled for Saturday, September 14 along FM 2611, a mile before the Churchill Bridge and a mile after. This is constantly one of the trashiest sections of road to cross over the San Bernard. It's always in need of trash collection because eventually the refuse washes into the river and pollutes it.

Our trash pick-ups last about two hours from start to finish. On Saturday, September 14, we'll start at 7:30 to avoid the heat. We convene at the Churchill Bridge boat ramp. All are welcome to help! Really cool orange vests are provided as are trash bags and water. Wear boots and bring a picker-upper to make trash picking easier. See you there!
