River Flooding

Photo taken at 3:00 p.m., July 2, between FM 521 and Churchill bridges. Shoreline indicated by dotted line. The river returned to its banks on Monday, July 5.
 
River flooding on the San Bernard was caused by heavy bands of showers spinning off Hurricane Alex that made landfall in Mexico. Rainfall of approximately 12" fell in a 24 hour period. The river crested at 23.4' on Friday night, July 3, 2010. Record was 23.90' on 10/23/98
