Final Steps to an Open Mouth
Posted on Jun 26th, 2019

Hip, hip, hooray, lets hear it for Brazoria County Commissioners and Texas Commission on Environment Quality. The $10 million contract to open the “Lower San Bernard Ecosystem Restoration” has been OFFICIALLY approved. This means the permits from US Fish and Wildlife Service and Army Corps of Engineers are next in line, then dredging of the mouth begins Spring 2020. Keep your fingers crossed that we do not hear of any disturbances forming anywhere — weather, or otherwise.

Note: The actual contract is 107 pgs. long! The link is the one page Brazoria County Court Order "Restore Act Contract". >>>

“It affects shipping traffic and gates at the Brazos River because it was unnatural movement of water, and having the mouth open, water can flow on through with reduced effects,” ––County Judge Matt Sebesta
