A water taxi transports the guests to the different homes. This year’s boat was provided by Mike Goodson with crew Bob Breakiron.

The first stop on the Progressive Dinner was hosted by Sherry and Tom Folger. Auction item buyers George and Trish Franklin, left, Carol McKinney, Dr. Millicent Valek and John May, and Jackie Brewer, enjoyed appetizers of Bucko’s Bernard ribs, bacon wrapped pineapple, potato crisps with goat cheese and olives, washed down with Mimosa Margaritas and pink lemonade.

Each year, at the October FOR fundraiser, a four-course Progressive Dinner auction item for six guests is sold. The movable feast is served at four different homes in succession along the river.
After stopping for appetizers (photo above), Progressive Dinner guests proceeded to the second stop at hosts Jane and John Wallace's home for soup and salad. There they dined on rich tomato based Gulf shrimp and corn soup, “Parrains” New Orleans cole slaw with creamy salted peanut dressing, accompanied by Jane’s special recipe homemade jalapeño cornbread.
Then, traveling a short distance downriver, the guests arrived at hosts Cathy and Kirk Wardlaw for the entrée. There they had a choice of reversed tri-tip steak or brined green egg chicken served with twice baked potatoes and Parmesan green beans. This was paired with Summer’s Estate Cabernet Sauvignon or New Zealand Sauvignon Blanc.
As they traveled back upriver to hosts Suzanne and Mike Goodson’s home, the guests breathed deep, loosened their belts (if they were wearing one) and geared up for the last stop – dessert. The mouth-watering treats included original Lindy’s New York Cheesecake with strawberry glaze, Oreo Delight with chocolate pudding, Blue Bell Vanilla with fresh strawberries and Balsamic Vinegar Glaze, accompanied with coffee, wines and liquors.
Mark your calendar to attend the Saturday, October 7th fundraiser “Escape to the Tropics: Party in ParrotDise” at the FOR Community Center on the San Bernard.
