June Meeting Reports

  • Jun 6, FOR Hosted Breakfast on the Bernard, Dido's Restaurant, Two Speakers
Mike Lange, Trust for Public Land (U.S. Fish & Wildlife Service), discussed two tracts of land along the San Bernard River that are currently being surveyed for inclusion in the Trust for Public Land organization. One is a 122-acre tract near Hanson County Park and the other is a 360-acre tract in Ft. Bend County with a 1/2 mile river frontage near FM 442 northeast of Boling. When the surveys are completed, more information will follow as to exact location.
 
Representatives from Phillips 66 also attended the Saturday breakfast. Aaron Doughty, Freeport Project Integration Manager, Shannon Vogt, Communications & Public Affairs Advisor, and Rich Johnson, Communications and Public Affairs Director answered questions concerning the Phillips 66 Midstream expansion currently under construction around the San Bernard River.
 
Mr. Doughty stated the construction at the Clemens Facility will be winding down in a couple of weeks. (Oct 12, 2014 article “Phillips 66 Drilling and Pipeline Construction) Drilling of the injection wells off of CR 506 has been completed. Phillips 66 met with Brazoria County Commissioners and initiated a $2,000,000 escrow agreement for road repair. 
 
Product from the Clemens Facility will be pipelined to their existing marine terminal in Freeport. The Freeport LPG Export Terminal will then deliver product to China, a contract was signed in March 2014.

The fourth in a series of continuing public education programs presented by the FOR Environmental Committee "Learn the Secrets of an Efficient Septic Tank System" had 14 people in attendance. Ryan Gerlich, Texas A&M AgrilLife Extension Service, gave an in-depth description of types of systems and how to keep them working properly. 
  • Jun 20, Sargent Ninth Annual Tournament of Heroes, Sargent, Tx
FOR volunteers, Vicki Head, Ange Ronayne, Ken and Linda Wright assisted the Sargent Wounded Warrior Project Committee by helping stuff soldier gift bags. Two hours was spent stuffing the goodie bags. FOR also donated 100 bottles of water to the event that takes place June 26, 27 and 28.
