The deadline has passed for Brazoria County to receive the final survey from dredging contractor Rigid Constructors. The area yet to be surveyed extends 1,600' from STA.75 into the Gulf of Mexico. The proposed channel is planned to be 10’ deep by 100’ wide.
On a boat trip to the mouth Fri 5/6/22, Mike Goodson observed the dredge sitting at a depth of 10’ and the barge at a depth of 5’.
In the future, Brazoria County and Port Freeport have agreed to maintain the channel every 18 to 24 months dredging from the ICW to the Gulf using a big USACE barge.
