  • May 1st,  Breakfast on the Bernard, Dido’s Restaurant
Having made it through a night of torrential downpour at times, 25 folks attended the regular first-Saturday-of-the-month Breakfast on the Bernard.

FOR VP Mike Goodson welcomed several new river residents attending for the first time. He then introduced visitors Brazoria County Commissioner David Linder, Port Freeport Commissioner John Hoss and West Brazoria County Drainage District Director John Richers. Also attending breakfast was Rob Giesecke running the first time for election as Port Freeport Commissioner.

Commissioner Linder discussed progress of dredging open the mouth and said the anticipated start date is July 1, 2021 and expected completion October 1, 2021. Linder also said the COE still plans to remove the existing Brazos River west floodgate on the ICW. Port Freeport Commissioner Hoss participated in the discussion of opening and maintaining the mouth.

Director Richers cited examples of areas along the river where feasibility studies are needed stop erosion from adding unwanted silt to the river.

All friends and neighbors of the river are invited to come and enjoy BOB (Breakfast on the Bernard). Next one is Saturday, June 5th.
