Stormy Weather Blows Through
Posted on May 21st, 2016

After a teeth-rattling thunderstorm, blinding flashes of lightning, buckets of rain, electricity off, howling wind with a few pellets of hail thrown in for good measure, the river rose out of its banks overnight but is receding some this morning.

At 7:00 am today, Sun May 22, the water level was approximately 2.5 ft over normal level between the two bridges (FM 521 and FM 2611). River current speed is 2.7 mph. More rain is expected today.

It was one year ago, on May 23 and 24, Memorial Weekend 2015 there was historic river flooding across portions of South-Central Texas.

FOR has the best reporter (Webmaster) ever! We appreciate the diligent reporting of the most up-to-date River conditions--more accurate for us locally than can be found anywhere. Thank you Linda; hope you don't leave for a better paying job.
