FOR to Host Dinner for Soldiers

Sargent, Texas will once again be hosting about 100 combat wounded soldiers/family members from several Warrior Transition Battalions this year. These soldiers will fish as their guests in the Tournament and the Sargent Community will host these soldiers/family members.

Friends of the River San Bernard is assisting the Sargent community with its 10th annual “Sargent Tournament of Heroes - Benefiting Patriots & Heroes Outdoors", by hosting a spaghetti dinner for the soldiers and their family members on Friday, June 10, 2016 at the VFW Post 2412 building, FM 457, on the way to Sargent.
Dinner preparations would involve cooking, setting up, serving, kitchen duty and kitchen cleanup. The menu will be spaghetti, salad and garlic bread for 300. The salad will be in bags, sauce and meatballs are is in bags, all it needs is heated – the only thing that will need to be cooked are the noodles and the bread. FOR volunteers need to arrive by 3:00 PM on Friday to have dinner ready to serve at 6:00 PM. The decorators will be there setting up the tables, too. The food should already be at the VFW building as most is being donated.

Thu Jun 9 Soldiers arrive throughout the day. Dinner provided at the Sargent VFW Post 2412
Fri Jun 10 4:00 p.m. Soldiers arrive, escorted by Matagorda County Cavalry at Sargent VFW
**6:00 p.m. Spaghetti dinner prepared and served by Friends of the River San Bernard
Captain’s meeting after dinner. Hosts and guides will be matched with their soldiers and
must sign waivers and check out before leaving with their soldiers.
Sat Jun 11 Tournament Fishing, all day
Weigh-In will be at the Sargent VFW Post 2412 before dinner. Presentations, dinner,
auction and music afterwards at the VFW
