Recently seen traveling downriver from the Phillips 66 terminal, was the towboat MV St. Elmo owned by Marquette Transportation Co., Jefferson, LA, with headquarters in the port city of Paducah, Kentucky.

The twin screw towboat was built in 1998 by St. Charles Steel Works, Thibodaux, LA. She, or maybe he (originally named Seth Harrison, then Daniel, Sr.) measures 60 feet long and 26 feet wide and runs on 1,000 hp Mitsubishi S6A3 diesels.

Note the crewman standing under the company logo on the smokestack taking a photo of the person taking his photo.

The Marquette Transportation Co. logo shows a figure of Father Jacques Marquette paddling a canoe. He was a French Jesuit priest who lived among the Great Lakes Indians from 1666 to his death in 1675 and is credited with helping map the Mississippi River.
