Barge has minor collision with dock
Posted on May 16th, 2015
![]() Around 11:00 p.m. last night (Fri May 15), Bill and Nancy Long heard a towboat change engine speed on the river near their house located about three-quarters of a mile upriver from the FM 521 McNeill bridge. As long time residents of the river, they are familiar with the sounds of the towboats as they pass by their house. Nancy said when she hear the noise she went to check. The barge, traveling downriver, had slid past the dock and snapped off a portion of a 2 x 12 beam protruding from the upper portion of the dock. Luckily, that was the only damage done.
The Longs were soon contacted by Cindy Jordy, Phillips 66 Environmental Team Leader and an independent surveyor from Higman Barge Lines, owners of the tugboat regarding the incident.
