Sargent Tournament of Heroes

Sargent, Tx will once again be hosting about 100 combat wounded soldiers/family members from several Warrior Transition Battalions this year.  These soldiers will fish as their guests in the 9th annual Tournament of Heroes. The Sargent Community has once again stepped up to host and fish these soldiers/family members.
 
Event Schedule:
  • Thu June 25 – Soldiers arrive. Dinner at Caney Creek RV Park
  • Fri June 26 – Registration and dinner at Jay's Chili Joint (formerly the Iron Cactus) 4:00 pm - Soldiers arrive escorted by the Matagorda County Cavalry. Special dinner plates sold to nonmilitary attendees. Hosts and Guides will be matched up. Captain's Meeting after dinner.
  • Sat June 27 – Tournament fishing weigh-In at VFW, time TBA. Presentations, dinner, and auction afterwards at Sargent VFW Post 2412 - open to the public, please come out and show your support!
  • Sun June 28 – 9:00 -11:00 am breakfast at  Sargent Volunteer Fire Department . "Patriots and Heroes Outdoors" will transport Soldiers home.
FOR San Bernard has volunteered to get beans donated from Bay City Sheriff's Dept., provide 25 kid's fishing poles and help decorate the Sargent VFW Post 2412 on Fri Jun 26. 
 
>>> Boat Captains are needed. A Captain's meeting will be held at Jay's Chili Joint on Friday, June 26 at 7:00 p.m. Anyone interested in hosting their boat for this event, please fill out this form and forward it to Elaine Concklin econcklin@att.net within the next two weeks.
