FOR Hears from National Weather Service Regarding Flooding
Posted on Apr 20th, 2015

An email was recently received from David C. Schwertz, Senior Service Hydrologist, Houston-Galveston Area National Weather Service Office regarding flooding on the San Bernard. Mr Schwertz spoke at the February 28th FOR “State of the River”.
  • A meeting with Mr. Schwertz is planned for next week.
Good Morning Friends of the San Bernard,
Well we've had a couple of events since I spoke with you, this past weekend by far the worst. The stage at the Phillips dock near Sweeny this morning was 19.8 feet, very close to the major flood category (20 feet). I just wanted to touch base and see what the impact of this level is having in your area. Any information you can provide will be helpful. I would also like to meet and discuss improvement in hydrological services for the lower San  Bernard which we had touched on when I was there. My schedule is fairly tight this week but I am open next week and the first week of May. Please let me know if any of these dates work for you.

Best Regards,
Dave
