Progressive Dinner Held on River
Posted on Apr 23rd, 2012

"It was a fantastic event, however, I can't stop there! Sue and I can't sing enough praises about everyone involved who provided this fun and very tasteful Progressive Dinner on the River. We hope we can do this again next year!" –Norm Wood

Few things are more fun than a progressive dinner party, especially when it's a progressive dinner on the San Bernard. Despite the threat of unruly weather, this was true when the F.O.R. progressive dinner was served up on Sunday afternoon, April 15, 2012. The dinner was a 2011 River Regatta auction item purchased by Norm and Sue Wood, Ravi and Pam Singhania, and Juan and  Joyce Chapa.

The couples met at the FOR Community Center and from there were transported by water taxi to four homes on the river where they enjoyed a different meal course at each place.
  • Stop number one, the appetizer, was hosted by Tammie and Jimmy Myers, along with neighbors, Mike and Patti Golden. They served a tray of assorted cheese, grapes and olives along with individual shrimp cocktails.
  • The second stop was the soup and salad course, hosted by Ana and Charlie Pogue who served a strawberry salad and chilled gazpacho.
  • Stop number three was hosted by Susan and Bob Bailey, who served a seafood entrée of grilled scallops, speckled trout, red fish, sauteed shrimp with baked asparagus and tomatoes.
  • The last stop was the dessert course, hosted by Sandy and Mike Cook with neighbors Jane and John Wallace. They served Texas cheese cake topped with a choice of strawberries, raspberries or blueberries and whipped cream, plus German Chocolate Cake.
