March Meeting Reports
Posted on Mar 25th, 2013

These reports are a way to let the public know what FOR’s been up to. It’s also a way that someone can determine if there is any way they’d like to get involved in things. Please contact FOR if you are interested. (Select Volunteer on the "Contact Us" drop down list.)
  • March 28, Brazoria County Petrochemical Council,  Brazosport College Business Center
Representing FOR at the most recent meeting of the Brazoria County Petrochemical Council was Environmental Committee Chairman Barbara Fratila and committee member Brian Meagher. The council consists of plant managers from various chemical plants, refineries etc. located in Brazoria County.
Barbara gave a presentation that included all of the environmental activities of FOR and opportunities for these entities to contribute to FOR either through Supplemental Environmental Program (SEP)* payments (penalty dollars from fines for enforcement actions in Brazoria County) or through contributions to the annual FOR River Regatta fundraiser. "Save the Date Cards" for the River Regatta were handed out to all attendees and extras left for them to take and distribute to others.

*SEPs are conservation easements that bind a property owner's good intentions to the land in perpetuity. Donors of conservation easements retain title to their property. They grant conservation easements to protect their land from inappropriate development. A conservation easement runs with the title to the property regardless of changes in future ownership.
