Forty-two people gathered at the FOR Community Center on Sat Feb 16th to hear Ryan Gerlich from Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service present a program on On Site Sewage Facilities (OSSF's) or what we lay persons call "septic systems."

Attendees learned how septic and aerobic systems should be designed for specific soil type, lot size and home occupancy.  Between his "show and tell" props, PowerPoint slides and generous Q&A time, Ryan was able to help the audience understand how their systems are constructed, how to operate them, e.g., what should and shouldn't go into them, and what routine maintenance is required for each type of system.

This year Ryan has grant funding to do 25 free pump outs and inspections for OSSF owners in our area, and a number those present filled out an application to be considered for one of these "no fault" inspections.
