Crab Factoids
Posted on Feb 3rd, 2013

Did you know...it is unlawful to place, fish, or leave a crab trap or crab trap component in the coastal waters of the state from February 15-24, 2013? On these dates, all Texas coastal waters will be closed for crabbing to collect all traps left in the water. These traps will be presumed to be abandoned and considered “litter” under state law. This allows volunteers to legally remove any crab traps they find.

Did you know...you may not use or place more than three crab traps in public waters of the San Bernard River north of a line marked by the boat access channel at Bernard Acres (2.78 miles south of the FM 2611 Churchill Bridge)?
