Daniel Garza Project Manager - HDR Engineering, Inc, Owner’s-Engineer
Based on daily reports, the following metrics have been calculated
LF = 7,170 (73.9% of 9,700)
CY = 288,502 (79.7% of 362,163)
Rigid experienced challenges this week. Since the dredge broke through to the Gulf of Mexico last week on WED 12/01/21, we’ve experienced the greatest tide variations seen during the entire project duration. As I mentioned in my last weekly report, the tides and subsequent currents at the opening have negatively affected dredging operations. Rigid has only been able to dredge one day this week, THU 12/02/21, and had to shut down in the early afternoon. They have not dredged since.
We performed an interim survey (pre-opening) on MON 11/29/21. Rigid performed a survey (post-opening) on TUE 12/07/21 to quantify the material that has since infiltrated the river since the opening to the Gulf. We are currently post-processing the data to quantify the volume of material.
Rigid is working to restart the dredging process immediately.
- Boaters please stay clear of markers, the dredge pipe, all equipment, and the discharge area.
