Seen on the River: M/V Mark E. Flynn

 The M/V Mark E. Flynn is regularly seen pushing barges filled with petrochemicals to and from the Phillips 66 terminal on the river. The towboat is owned by Higman Barge Lines, Inc., whose headquarters are located in Houston. The 1,800 h.p. towboat was built in 2008 by Hope Services, a towboat builder in Dulac LA.
Towboat Factoid: The proper method of carrying something heavy while on the deck of a towboat is to carry it on the outboard (outside) shoulder to prevent hitting something on the boat and being knocked overboard.
