River Busy with Shipments of Refinery Equipment

If you have been river watching this past month then you've seen the busy barge traffic carrying huge pieces of refinery equipment up river. Phillips 66 has contracted with Linde PLC subsidiary Praxair Inc. to supply high-purity hydrogen to the 256,000-b/d Sweeny refinery in Old Ocean, TX starting in early 2021. A portion of the equipment used in construction of this refinery has traveled up the San Bernard River as far as the FM 521 boat ramp.

A barge carrying refinery equipment for the Praxair plant being built at Old Ocean, proceeds upriver on it's way to be unloaded at the FM 521 boat ramp location. The unloading of the equipment takes place on private property nearby, not actually on the boat ramp itself.
