FOR continued their tradition of supporting Brazoria County Park’s Family Day at Hanson Riverside County Park on Saturday, November 10th. Tucked away at the foot of the Highway 35 bridge, this park offers splendid recreational facilities including baseball and soccer fields, pavilions, nature trail, picnic facilities, restrooms, a fishing dock, and soon a boat ramp.
The weather cooperated as FOR set up their tent and River Ranger display under centuries old Oak and Sycamore trees. As in years past, FOR offered the public free boat rides and tours of the upper river from the park to the salt water barrier dam. Special thanks to Wayne and Vicki Head (top photo) and to Larry Vacek (bottom photo) for lending their boats and expertise to insure safe passage for all riders, Tom and Angie Ronayne for their expertise and assistance and, of course, to Valroy and Adalia Maudlin for manning the information booth and explaining the FOR River Ranger youth program. More than 25 people took the ever popular boat ride ranging in age from to 21 months up.
