Rigid Constructors Dredging Contractor
Daniel Garza Project Manager - HDR Engineering, Inc, Owner’s-Engineer
Based on daily reports, the following metrics have been calculated:
- LF (Linear Feet) = 6,245 (64.4% of 9,700)
- CY (Cubic Yards) = 161,530 (44.6% of 362,163)
Rigid is beginning to make two passes along the centerline. The first pass allows them to dredge the upper material, and then they back up for a second pass to dredge to the authorized depth. The reason for two passes is that they’re approaching the shallow areas; we expect to be seeing more material per linear foot until we get to the Gulf of Mexico. This slows their daily forward progress, but they’re collecting more material.
Rigid was down for a few days (a portion of WED 10/13, all THU 10/14, and a portion of FRI 10/15) as they replaced the tracks on their marsh buggy. As mentioned previously, they are using their marsh buggy to relocate the port and starboard anchors as they move along the centerline. They were also down on TUE for approximately 14 hours as they continue to deal with fuel pump issues. They are continuing to coordinate with the manufacturer to diagnose and remedy the issue.
A revised project schedule is expected this week, so an update on a potential completion date by the end of the week, in time next weekly report.
- Boaters please stay clear of markers, the dredge pipe, all equipment, and the discharge area.
