24 Oct 21 The color change in the water in front of the dredge shows the width of the swing of the rotating cutter head as it moves from side to side loosening and lifting sand and sediment from the bottom of the river bed. The loose material is hydraulically drawn through the discharge pipe (laying next to the shore line) to a discharge point located on the down drift side of the beach.
The marsh buggy sits seemingly in the middle of the river above the dredge. It can do this because it is built on two large pontoons with tracks mounted around the pontoons. This means it can float AND move on ground. It assists in moving the dredge anchors.
- Boaters please stay clear of markers, the dredge pipe, all equipment, and the discharge area.
