October Meeting Report

- Thu Oct 14 FOR Environmental Committee, Dido’s Restaurant
The FOR Environmental Committee held its regular monthly meeting. Chairman Justin Hillis reported a November public education program "Alligators: Fact, Fiction, Myths and Legends" is planned on Sat Nov 13, 10 am - Noon, at the FOR Community Center, 20450 CR 510-B. The free, open to the public program, will address being safe around alligators. Also discussed at the meeting was waste water treatment plants, their regulation, inspection and violations.
- Thu Oct 14 Texas Stream Team Water Quality Test on San Bernard
H-GAC Texas Stream Team volunteer Denise Wolever uses a test kit to measure the physical and chemical parameters of San Bernard River and tests off her pier six miles downstream from Churchill Bridge at CR 469. The test reports the pH level, salinity, temperature, dissolved oxygen and turbidity of the water.
- Sat Oct 2 Breakfast on the Bernard (BOB), Dido's Restaurant
The regular first-Saturday-of-the-month Breakfast on the Bernard was held. Everyone's invited to attend and catch up on news of the river. The coffee’s hot and so’s the conversation!. Cost for breakfast — $10 for adults, $5 for children (under 3 yrs, no charge). Be sure and stay long enough to hear FOR announcements!
