Derelict Boat Removal Program Planned
Posted on Oct 14th, 2015

A new program  will become available in early 2016 that will give river residents the opportunity to remove inoperable and derelict vessels under 25 feet during a one day event. The program will be sponsored by the Texas General Land Office called the Brazoria County Vessel Turn-In-Program.  Brazoria County has partnered with the Texas General Land Office (GLO) and Texas Parks & Wildlife (TP&W)

Designed to provide owners with a voluntary method of disposal, a county/city resident will be able to call a phone number to ask for assistance then a representative will contact applicants to verify the vessel qualifies and will follow with a site visit to verify ownership and document the condition of the vessel. >>

The owner will be responsible for bringing the boat to the Brazoria County Fairgrounds on the event date but the GLO will also have trucks and trailers on site in case they need assistance. The boats will then be taken to the local landfill for disposal.

Watch for more information to follow!
