Highway Trash Pick Up Scheduled
Posted on Oct 27th, 2014

Where do you toss your trash...out your car window...in the bed of your truck...over your shoulder...or in a trash can?

Volunteers are needed to, yes, to pick up someone else’s trash on Saturday morning, November 8, 8:30 - 10:30 a.m., meet at the Churchill Bridge boat ramp parking lot.

There’s a big problem concerning the two miles of roadside, before and after the Churchill Bridge over the San Bernard on FM 2611. There are as many litterbugs as mosquitoes along that stretch of road who think it’s perfectly acceptable to throw trash out of their vehicle’s window, which after a rain, ends up floating in the river.

Bring a hat, gloves, sunscreen and mosquitoes repellent. Apparel should protect you from the sun, bugs and weather. Strong shoes or boots are a good idea. TXDOT and Friends of the River San Bernard supply the safety vests, trash bags and water. If you have a question, call Chairman Brian 979.239.8607.
