Life Along the Banks: Saltwater Dam

Water from recent heavy rains in the upper San Bernard watershed, rushes over the saltwater dam located two miles upstream from Hanson County Park on Hwy 35 west of West Columbia. By the time the water flows several miles downriver to the FM 521 bridge, the level is below the docks located there - no flooding.
The orange-colored object on the left is a Phillip's 66 boom placed there to prevent debris from entering their water intake pipe. Read past web article.
