Wildlife Refuge Closed
Posted on Oct 4th, 2013

Because of the shutdown of the federal government caused by the lapse in appropriations, the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service will suspend most programs and operations which includes the San Bernard National Wildlife Refuge. The 34,679-acre refuge is located in Brazoria and Matagorda counties, 12 miles west of Freeport, Texas. The refuge is a stop on the Great Texas Coastal Birding Trail.
