At last fall’s F.O.R. Fundraiser, Wayman Hutchins purchased a Gumbo Party for twenty people. The party is a special auction item donated each year by Fred and Nancy Kanter at their home on the San Bernard. The Kanters love to cook and can whip up a spicy roux at the drop of a hat. The menu consisted of three appetizers (jambalaya with spicy crackers, stuffed jalapenos, fried fish nuggets with two homemade sauces) and gumbo. Dessert was warm homemade buttermilk pie straight from the oven.
