- Sat Jan 20 San Bernard Riverfest & Chili Cook-off
Despite feeling chili because of cool temperatures at the San Bernard Riverfest & Chili Cook-off, FOR SB brought the heat with its entries. Pictured is the Friends of the River San Bernard Chili Cook-off team of Sheila Wardlaw, Dana Swanson and Denise Wolever. They served up three versions of the chili - “Tame Chili” (beef), “Untamed Chili” (Bison) and “Wild Chili” (antelope). Comfort food with a kick.

Forty-two friends attended Saturday’s breakfast. President John Swanson introduced guests Port Commissioners Barbara Fratila and Dan Croft who assured everyone the Port does not import primates of any kind. Also introduced was Sheryl Rogers, Wildlife Rehabilitator, who reported her Facebook page “No Monkey Business in Texas” has pertinent information regarding Charles River Labs with a link to signing a no monkey lab petition.
