January Meeting Report

  • Tue Jan 22 Texas Stream Team Water Quality Test on San Bernard
 Cold fronts with northerly and westerly winds tend to push water out of the river. Received this message from Stream Team volunteer Denise Wolever, "I' m living on a beach! Our dock has been surrounded by silt for the past week so this report is lacking testing information...with another front coming in, doubt this will improve!"

  • Sat Jan 8 Breakfast on the Bernard (BOB), Dido’s Restaurant
Filling in for the absent President Kirk Wardlaw was John Swanson, FOR Vice President, who introduced first-time guests at breakfast. Also included in the introductions was Port Freeport Commissioner Ravi Singhania. Cathy MacDonald, San Bernard Santa Toy Drive Chairman, reported over 500 toys were donated during the holidays. The toys were passed on to the Freeport Blue Santa toy program for distribution. Tom Ronayne, FOR Director, gave an update on a water quality issue on the river involving the City of Brazoria WWTP.
