Mouth - January 24, 2019
Posted on Jan 24th, 2019
FOR Director Vicki Head and Past President Wayne Head sent these photos of the mouth taken today Thu Jan 24th during their first flight with pilot son Vim Head.
![]() The photo shows the Texas coastline stretching out with the mouth of the San Bernard in the middle and the Gulf of Mexico on the right. The Brazos River is at the top of the photo emptying silt-laden water into the Gulf. A line of separation is clearly shown between the blue gulf water and the brownish Brazos river water that is moving down the coast.
![]() A large sand bar, looking a lot like a sleeping gecko, stretches across the mouth. Large amounts of rain received over the San Bernard watershed during the past weeks has helped keep the extremely shallow channel barely open to the gulf.
