Mouth Closing to Gulf
Posted on Jan 31st, 2018

Jan 31, 2018. Two curved sandbars are forming at the mouth of the San Bernard and will eventually close it. Surf in the Gulf of Mexico can be seen breaking on the left. The, then closed, mouth was temporarily opened when flood waters from Hurricane Harvey burst through to the Gulf in early September 2017. Within hours the level of flood waters in the river dropped considerably.

If you have questions concerning reopening the mouth, be sure and attend the FOR "State of the River" meeting on Sat Feb 10, Dido's Restaurant, 4:00 pm. Brazoria County Commissioners Dude Payne and David Linder will give an update on reopening the mouth and answer questions.
