Series of Educational Programs Planned

Six educational programs are planned again this year by the FOR San Bernard Board of Directors and Environmental Committee. Each will be free to the public, feature "subject matter experts" on the topics, and include plenty of question and answer time so that each participant gets the information he or she needs.
- “Gardening on the San Bernard”,
- Sat. Feb 14, 10:00 am-12:00 noon, FOR Community Center ​​​
- Speakers: Master Gardeners Jim Hillis and Ray Michalik
Celebrate V-Day by bringing your honey to hear of Jim Hillis' gardening successes and failures on the banks of the San Bernard. Ray Michalik will tell you about the type of citrus and fruit trees that are suitable for planting on the river and where they are available.
- "Management Strategies for Fire ants and Tawny Crazy Ants”
- Sat. Mar 14, 10:00 am-12:00 noon, FOR Community Center
- Speaker: Dr. Fire Ant - Entomologist Paul Nester
Find out how to win the battle with fire ants. Dr. Nester is part of the Fire Ant Project Team of the Texas Imported Fire Ant Research and Management Plan, Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service, Texas A&M University System.
