- Jan 20, Phillips 66 Barge Guideline Meeting, Old Ocean​
Friend of the river Arlene Primeau, Secretary Marie Breakiron, Director Fred Kanter and President Tom Ronayne met with Phillips 66 refinery reps Doug Bailey, Terminals Trainer, Tom Sheppard, Terminals Supervisor, Regina Slaydon, Public Relations Specialist, and Cindy Wyman-Jordy, Environmental Director. The Phillips 66 “San Bernard River Guidline” was reviewed and discussion was held on ways to address situations with the highest potential for incidents between barges and recreational users of the river. Actions for both Phillips 66 and FOR were proposed and will be published when finalized.

Valroy Mauldin, FOR Director and citizen scientist monitor takes water samples each month midway between the FM 521 bridge and the FM 2611 bridge for the Texas Stream Team program. Read Jan report. Learn more about the Texas Stream Team. Yearly reports are found on Environment page.
- Jan 14, Deepwater Horizon Litigation Webinar
FOR President Tom Ronayne viewed a web seminar where a panel of experts discussed some of the major issues of the BP oil spill ligation. This has important implications for 80% of the Clean Water Act penalties will go through the RESTORE ACT for economic and ecological recovery in the Gulf, hopefully finanancing the reopening of the mouth of the San Bernard.
- Jan 13, Phillips 66 Citizen Advisory Panel (CAP) Meeting, Old Ocean
FOR Directors Fred Kanter and Vanessa Taylor and Presdent Tom Ronayne attended the CAP meeting which covered progress of the expansion projects in Old Ocean.
