Salt Water Dam on San Bernard

The Phillips 66 spillway, located two miles above Hwy 35 where it crosses over the San Bernard River west of West Columbia, stops the upstream flow of salt water. The river is the source of water for the Phillips 66 Old Ocean refinery.

 The photo taken on January 20, 2014 shows substantial amounts of fresh water flowing over the dam. The orange item, seen on the right of the photo floating partially above and below the dam, is the Phillips 66 boom that is normally positioned just above the dam to keep debris from entering their water intake.
