Fifty Nine Inches of Fish
Posted on Jan 10th, 2013

Robert Couch holds his 27" redfish.
The fishing’s great on the San Bernard now that the weather has cooled off. These two specimens were caught between the FM 521 and the Sportsman’s Span FM 2611 bridges on the river.

Robert Couch pulled in this 27" redfish around 10:00 a.m. the day after Christmas. He was fishing with a rattletrap lore from a dock in the Lazy Oaks subdivision. The weather was cold, windy and rainy. The river was very low and white caps were on the water. The redfish weighed over 8 lbs and was filleted out to 6 large filets.

Nick Fratila caught this 32” drum on January 9 close to the Sportsman’s Span bridge. Pulling in a big drum is like fighting a big rock. It’s usually a slug fest to get it to the surface. The drum weighted 19.5 lbs. No eating this big boy, just posed for a photo and was released.
